A supplement cabinet can become a museum of good intentions.
One bottle was for sleep. One was for energy. One was recommended in a podcast. One had an ingredient that sounded important. Six months later, the cabinet is crowded and the original question is gone.
Every bottle should have a job
Write down why you take each product in one sentence. If the answer is vague, that does not automatically mean the product is useless. It means the reason needs clarification.
Run the E·E·E filter
Evidence: What quality of evidence supports the specific claim, ingredient, dose, and population?
Experience: Is it easy to take consistently? Have you noticed anything meaningful, and are you separating that observation from proof?
Economics: What does it cost monthly, and what else could that money support?
Then ask the unsexy questions
- Could this interact with a medication or condition?
- Am I duplicating an ingredient across several products?
- Is the dose on the label the dose actually studied?
- Is this correcting a documented need, supporting a specific goal, or simply reducing uncertainty?
- Would food, sleep, strength, medical care, or a simpler product solve the same problem better?
Do not turn a cabinet audit into unsupervised medication management
Prescription treatment and clinically significant nutrient deficiencies deserve qualified guidance. The point of the audit is visibility and better questions, not impulsively stopping something important.
A smaller cabinet is not automatically a better cabinet. A more intentional one is.
